Water Recycling Program Implementations
Andalas University has implemented the utilization of wasted AC water for plant watering. All air conditioners in the rectorate building are linked to wastewater pipelines that run into containers from discarded air conditioners. This water is utilized to water plants. Similarly, rainfall collected in containers is then used to water plants.
Utilizing used AC water on campus not only helps reduce environmental impacts but can also be a good example for students and the surrounding community. This can inspire other sustainable actions and help create a greener and more sustainable environment. Utilizing used AC water for sustainability on campus is a good step to reduce environmental impacts and save water resources. The following are several ways to implement the use of AC water in the campus environment:
- Campus Landscape Maintenance: AC water can be used for watering gardens, grass beds, and ornamental plants around campus. This will reduce dependence on fresh water and save on landscape maintenance costs.
- Water Storage System: Create a suitable water storage system to collect used AC water. This can be a storage tank or a larger containment system, depending on the capacity and needs of the campus.
- Education and Awareness: Educate and increase awareness among students, staff and campus residents about the benefits and importance of using used AC water for sustainability.
