Universitas Andalas features an extensively landscaped vegetation area covering approximately 780,137 square meters, thoughtfully integrated into the overall campus layout. These green spaces are distributed across various zones, including avenue trees that line the main roads, street gardens, the rectorate garden, and several faculty-owned gardens spread throughout the campus.
With a total planted vegetation area of 780,137 square meters out of the university’s 4,711,979 square meter land area, these cultivated landscapes account for around 10–20% of the total campus area. The avenue trees provide natural shading along pedestrian and vehicular pathways, improving microclimate comfort and enhancing visual coherence across the university grounds. Meanwhile, the faculty gardens function as green buffers that enrich the academic environment and offer pleasant outdoor spaces for study and social interaction.
This extensive network of green areas reflects Universitas Andalas’s strong commitment to sustainable campus development, promoting aesthetic harmony, environmental well-being, and a healthy learning atmosphere for the entire academic community.
