Universitas Andalas has 17 Embungs located in strategic locations throughout the campus area. An Embung is a retention pond derived from the rainwater runoff of the surrounding area and has many benefits such as providing a water source, controlling flooding, preventing erosion, and storing water reserves. These Embungs offer benefits as a source of groundwater reserves. In addition, embungs can reduce hot air around campus.
