Water Pollution Control in Campus Area
The source of hazardous wastewater comes from laboratories, the Emergency Department, and all rooms of medical activities. The wastewater treatment unit includes a 1x1 meter control basin with a depth of 1 meter, a transfer pump with a capacity of 3 L/sec, a reagent tank with a capacity of 250 liters and a diameter of 25/40 mm, a chemical treatment pump with a power of 0.2 kW/220/50 Hz, a chemical tank with a capacity of 100 liters, and a static mixer and coagulation system. The coagulation unit has a capacity of 2000 liters and a pipe diameter of 40 mm, a stirrer with a power of 0.8 kW/220 V/50 Hz, a settling tank, and an automatic flushing system.
The laundry wastewater pre-treatment unit consists of a 7 m3 reactor tank, a 100-litre defoamer tank, a 0.2 kW/220/50 Hz chemical pump, and a control panel. The Sludge Collector is made of FRP thermosetting material, and has two compartments, underground installation, with a manhole diameter of 600 mm, and volumes of 13 and 15 m3 This unit is part of the hazardous wastewater pre-treatment system before the wastewater enters the main or wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Several building areas in the Unand hospital area are equipped with wastewater treatment systems, including the pharmacy building and teaching hospital.
Water quality sampling and monitoring are conducted regularly to ensure environmental safety.
